Operation Cold Comfort Successful

February 5th, 2007 by LinuxChick

Despite bad press, and discouraging comments from various sources in the Toronto Linux community that we shouldn’t be unprofessional, and that we’re giving Linux a bad name, Operation Cold Comfort was an absolute success.

At 4PM on Friday, February 2nd, with three security guards already watching us (they knew we were coming!), we pulled our 10-foot penguin out of the bag and began the inflation process. The security guards remained, watching on as Tux slowly gained height. Not even 30 seconds after he was fully inflated, one member of the security team approached us, asking if we had permits. Clearly, we did not, and thus we were not permitted to have Tux on Dundas Square, which is privately owned. All is well, as the publicly-owned sidewalk was a mere 3 feet away.

Way to go Guys! :) A little Linux education never hurt anyone.
