Oft-rebuffed Warner Music courts EMI again

WASHINGTON — The first time Warner Music Group took a run at British rival EMI Group PLC, satellite radio was in its infancy and the iPod was a secret prototype in Apple Inc.’s labs.
Six years and repeated rebuffs later, Warner Music confirmed Tuesday that it is “in the preliminary stages” of making yet another takeover bid for London-based EMI — a move analysts said is aimed at coping with the uncertainty of selling music in the age of digital downloads.
