Grisoft offers free rootkit fighting tool

AVG Anti-Rootkit can detect and remove malicious software used to hide other nefarious applications on PCs.

Free, easy to install, and yes it is needed these days folks so I suggest grabbing a copy and installing it and using it, get the hint? Baldy

Top 10 Firefox extensions to avoid

Popularity shouldn’t be the acid test to determine if you should install an extension. The important question is whether it enhances your browsing experience without any nasty side effects. The good news is that the extension community is actually pretty adept at self-policing. Most extensions that are truly “broken” (for instance, they crash your browser or suck up all your CPU power) either get fixed quickly or simply vanish.

Linux Foundation Updates Standard Base, Unveils New Test Kit

The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, announced Monday an update of the Linux Standard Base with LSB 3.1 and the release of a new testing toolkit. The update to LSB 3.1 introduces new automated testing toolkits for distributions and application vendors, linking development more closely to certification. The result will be reduced development costs and tighter integration between upstream developers, distributions, applications and the LSB standard.
