Technology has always had trouble appealing to the part of our hard-wiring that expects advanced machines to behave like sentient beings. It’s this problem that makes software product managers run screaming to careers in TV marketing, pet supply sales and toy manufacturing. In the meantime, they come up with blatant attempts to personalize tech products through animal and humanoid mascots.
Creatures such as Tux the penguin have become bizarrely treasured icons, while others, such as recent roadside-autopsy subject Jeeves, are better off in the hereafter. And some, such as the freakishly terrifying jester touting Adobe’s new Creative Suite 3, are an indication that vector-based illustration software should probably come with consumer warning labels, just like those found on drugs, circular saws and guns. From the charmingly pixelated to the hideously misguided, join us on a tour of the good, the bad and the ridiculously lame of technology mascots.

And once again I will attempt a picture upload and see if this method will work.
Well it appears that is one bug that I can squash. Okay I will try and stop testing for the day I promise. And once I get these all ironed out I will post a full write up on ScribeFire.

Today I am playing with a new blogging tool, ScribeFire, and yes it seems to work better than the older version that it came from,ScribeFire (previously Performancing for Firefox) is a full-featured
blog editor that integrates with your browser and lets you easily post
to your blog. You can drag and drop formatted text from pages you are
browsing, take notes, and post to your blog. Take a look it was almost painless to install, yes I had a burp or two installing it and LinuxChick still has not gotten installed but she is going to work on it later and will let you know without a doubt.Over all as a remote tool it has a lot of options but as of now I am still playing with it and will let you know of the results as the day goes on. Give it a look and see if it works for you.

The increased popularity of alternative platforms will lead to more security challenges.
Speaking to consumer PC mag PC Pro,
security guru Eugene Kaspersky said that the lukewarm reception of
Vista will result in defections to Mac OS and Linux, thus making them
more attractive targets for malware writers.
“Home users are not
so loyal to the OS. Not many of them are satisfied with Microsoft
Vista,” Kaspersky told PC Pro. “Some Windows users will switch to other
OSes. Microsoft will not lose its dominance, but it will be reduced a
bit.”
Kaspersky explained that while Mac viruses are no more
cunning than Windows ones, it’s difficult to find decent AV software
for Macs. The open source nature of Linux makes it intrinsically more
vulnerable, apparently.
He also warned that we could expect
malware to be written for games consoles and smartphones. “Hackers who
develop code for computers don’t know how to write for smartphones,”
Kaspersky said. “This year they are going to introduce online banking

strick1226 writes “Ed Foster over at InfoWorld describes the Spy Act bill (H.R. 964) as having the same relation to the prevention of spyware that the CAN SPAM Act had to the prevention of spam. It allows exceptions for companies to utilize spyware for any number of reasons; if this bill had been law when Sony distributed their rootkit, they would have had perfect cover. Most troubling is that the bill would preempt all state laws, including those more focused on the privacy of people’s data, and disallow individuals from bringing suit. It is expected to pass soon with ‘strong bipartisan support.’”
(And now we will need chkrootkit even more it seems,Baldy)

Tis time to update folks really it is,Baldy
