My Affair with the Medical Profession

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Or maybe this should be titled what is really wrong with health care here in the states. As some of you know I have been getting ready for some surgery in the last few months and I am still sitting and waiting for that. Why you ask? Well it seems that the Doctors have to run some more tests on my little over age body before they decide if and when they want to go through with the operation. Now I have the patience of a coiled cobra to start with and this never ending series of tests are really starting to get on my nerves a tad. And this could be the fact that every time they get close to doing it they have to drag in another “specialist”. Fine I want the best if they are going to have their fingers in my body, however I just passed the $10,000 mark just on tests, and have more planned for next week.

Good gravy, lets see maybe the idea to drive my into bankruptcy before so they can say nope you are poor so you have to go to a different doctor now. If this is “normal” actions of the medical profession in this day and age no wonder that so many people are leaving this country in a way that has never been seen before. Now don’t get me wrong yes I want the best there is and yes I want it done, but with the doctors so scared they are going to be sued these days, it costs two, three, or four times that it should cost. And they say health care is getting better. Phooey!

Well off to get some more tests and maybe I will get this done before I retire. Sorry about the personal rant but I just had to do it.

First Vista Service Pack to Contain More Fixes Than Features

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

A Vista Service Pack is on the way — Microsoft says a beta of Service Pack 1 will be available “in a few weeks.” Many users, waiting for SP1’s arrival before taking the upgrade plunge, will wait even longer with the news that the pack will contain mostly bug fixes — and few new features.

Don’t you just love windoze?  first they release a OS that is not ready for prime time and then they fail to come through with the promises they made just after the release of said junk. And people wonder why I like Linux.
