In a day of openness among the giants of the Web, Microsoft’s announcement is dwarfed by the joint venture between ardent rivals.
Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO) has joined forces with Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) and MySpace to announce the OpenSocial Foundation, a nonprofit venture to support the development of portable, interoperable applications under the OpenSocial standard.
This comes the same day that Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) announced it is adding to the Windows Live platform the ability to share contact information with friends on five social networks: Facebook, LinkedIn, Bebo, Hi5 and Tagged.

I have never been one of the tinfoil hat crowd in the past, but that could change –especially in light of the comments made by Comcast’s Gerard Kunkel, senior VP of user experience, to reporter Chris Albrecht of NewTeeVee.com. Mr. Kunkel mentioned an experiment with different camera technologies built into the cable box that would be able to tell who is in the room watching television.
Okay now it is time to reach out and slap someone really really hard and tell them to get a life, this has to be the largest violation of privacy I have ever heard mentioned yet, Baldy

Review — Firefox 3 may still be a beta, Beta 4 to be exact, but in a recent Reuters news story, Mozilla Vice President of Engineering Mike Schroepfer said of the browser, “In many ways it is much more stable than anything else out there.”
