Snob Local News Stations

June 3rd, 2008 by Baldy

Okay as you all know I just got back from a extended roadtrip and while this area has a ABC,CBS,NBC,Fox,CW,and PBS Stations so I had a choice of the local news that I wanted to keep up with or so I thought.
The following is what I got from not one, not two, but all of them;

Alert: You are currently using an incompatible browser or an outdated version of Windows Media Player to access the video player on this site. Please read the troubleshooting tips below for more information.
Here are the first of the questions;

1. What do you recommend for me to view video?
2. What operating system do I need to use the Video Player?
3. What browsers can I use to use the Video Player?
4. What version of Windows Media Player do I need?
5. Does the Video Player support Real video or Quicktime?

Want to guess what Operating system they suggest or the video viewing program that is suggested? No I don’t blame you. Once again I found that the local news are just like lemmings heading over the cliff, they are told what they have to use not have a IT manager that can decide what should be used. And they wonder why they lose a lot of viewers to the internet. It is a shame that the Major Stations have the film to view and a small market all uses the same one sided crap. And I have asked them if they wanted or needed a IT person and they all said no either Bob in sales did it or the gal at the welcome desk did it. Gawd when will they learn? Or I guess they don’t want linux users to visit their sites
