Google updates photo editor for Linux
Google has released a new Linux version of the popular beginner-level photography program, Picasa. Picasa 3.0 for Linux (beta) adds an improved collage tool, red-eye-out, watermark support, a retouch tool, and enhanced integration with Picasa Web Albums, says the company.

globeandmail.com: YouTube starts running full-length CBS shows
NEW YORK — YouTube, the largest video-sharing Website, has started to run full-length TV shows from CBS Corp’s archive, in its latest step to boost advertising revenue by adding professional programming.
The site, owned by Google Inc, said on Friday it was talking to other TV networks to sign similar deals to CBS. Many TV networks already run short clips on YouTube, which also offers millions of home videos uploaded by users.

A Canadian researcher has discovered that a Chinese version of eBay Inc.’s Skype communications software snoops on text chats that contain certain keywords, including “democracy.”
The revelation is not only of interest to rights groups that monitor Internet censorship. The discovery also likely intrigues law enforcement and intelligence agencies in other countries, because they have been bothered by the growing use of Skype, which claims 338 million users across the world.

As some of you know, Linux is what my computers run on, and Simply Mepis is the particular distribution. I have been using Simply Mepis for a number of years, and would not go backwards into a Windows environment for anything. There is no need to, really, as all my computing needs are met in Linux: safe, secure, virus free, and easy to use. For more on Linux, you can read my post Linux – Is It For You?
Yikes and yet another person with Mepis on the mind. Could it be that Mepis is the best kept secret in the Linux World? Naw just a lot of folks that run linux want a good system that just Simply Works, Simply Mepis.
