With all the baseball,Indy Race,Stock Car race, not to mention the parades and a great 3 day holiday. Don’t let the idea of this holiday slip past you. This is the weekend to stop and say a prayer for those who have given the utmost sacrifice in order for us to enjoy our freedoms, Their lives! Please enjoy yourselves this weekend but stop for just a minute and thank those in past present and future conflicts and the job they have done, and what they have given for us. All I can say is thank you Ladies and Men.

Okay this area is as usual getting a good soaking this year and for the first time in a long time this was the result of one of the many storms that have gone through here in the last month.

When someone criticizes our favorite operating system on the Linux blogs, they typically get called Windows fanbois and are sent packing. But when someone from the right side of fence takes the trouble to put together a video and accompanying slide show explaining *why* they think Linux sucks — and, moreover, what they think needs to be done to fix it — it’s hard not to pay attention. Sure enough, that’s just what came up on the Linux blogs last week thanks to the efforts of Bryan Lunduke, cohost of Jupiter Broadcasting’s Linux Action Show.

I’ve been writing Linux guidebooks for some time, and it’s fair to say that most people who buy my books are Windows users looking to make the leap to Linux (or perhaps just wondering what the fuss is about).
Because of this, I’ve heard a lot of excuses why people quit Linux, and return to Windows. I’m happy to say that the excuses are getting far less common nowadays, compared to 2003, when I wrote my first book. But I still hear ‘em.
I installed Linux but some element of my hardware didn’t work!
That’s incredible because I installed Windows the other day and had the exact same experience! My graphics card didn’t work, and wifi didn’t either.
Might this just be the way PCs are?
But do you know what I did? I fixed everything. Maybe I’m lucky to be clever enough to do so, but if I wasn’t, I could easily ask around for solutions. I know there are smart people out there who are willing to help.
I tried Linux but I had to type commands!
OMG!!! Really?
But seriously. So what? Are you scared of the keyboard?

Sometimes Firefox can become a real memory hog, especially if you keep it running for hours and have many tabs opened. In order to make Firefox a little more responsive and save some RAM memory, here are three tweaks I bumped into over time. Notice that most of these tips only free up some memory at the expense of (usually) loading speed for web pages. You won’t make Firefox 10 times faster, but you will surely make it use less RAM.
