Under the open-source model, thousands of people pick it apart simultaneously and increase security. It comes more cheaply than computer coding designed for a single client, such as the Executive Office of the President. It gives programmers around the world a chance to offer upgrades, additions or tweaks to existing programs that the White House could — or could not — include in daily updates. Yet the system — known as Drupal — alone won’t make it more secure on its own, cautioned Ari Schwartz of the Center for Democracy and Technology.
Darn could it be that the Prez was not BS’ing about his tech knowledge? Baldy

AP – Soupy Sales, the rubber-faced comedian whose anything-for-a-chuckle career was built on 20,000 pies to the face and 5,000 live TV appearances across a half-century of laughs, has died. He was 83.
Darn I grew up watching him and his famous pie in the face and he had no fears of who got the pie, including himself a true pioneer in TV and comedy, Baldy

Sooner Boomer writes “Nigerian police in what is named Operation ‘Eagle Claw’ have shut down 800 scam web sites, and arrested members of 18 syndicates behind the fraudulent scam sites. Reports on Breitbart.com and Pointblank give details on the busts. The investigation was done in cooperation with Microsoft, to help develop smart technology software capable of detecting fraudulent emails. From Breitbart ‘When operating at full capacity, within the next six months, the scheme, dubbed “Eagle Claw,” should be able to forewarn around a quarter of million potential victims.’”
Darn does this mean that nice General really didn’t need my bank account after all LOL, Baldy

Most people nowadays have more than one computer. Often, you are using one, and would like to do something in another. In this video, I will explain how trivial it is to do that without leaving your seat in a modern Linux using KDE.
Darn and after reading this you are going to say, “That’s it!”, Baldy

Notice how W7 is copying features of Linux/Mac. Also, the author states their is no real reason to switch to W7. Without saying it, he could be summarized as stating W7 is a polished Vista.
Darn it is cute they way they have “found” so many new features to add in now, humm Linux has had them for years, Baldy

With more than 200 Linux distributions currently listed at Linux Online, it’s perhaps an understatement to say that newcomers to the field face a broad array of choices. In addition to considering their own goals for Linux, however, potential users may also need to take other factors into account. Hardware considerations are often foremost among them. “If you plan to run Linux on the sparc64 architecture,” for instance, “I think there’s only a small handful of distros that even support it, so that narrows it from the beginning,” said Michael Stutz, author of the “Linux Cookbook.”

AIDE (Advanced Intrusion Detection Enviornment) is a tool to check the file integrity. It is an opensource substitute for TRIPWIRE. It allows to take snapshots of all the major configuration files, binaries as well as libraries stats. It helps to find which binaries have been changed in case of compromisation of the system.
Nice little tool I have just started to play with it and so far no problems, Baldy

Lack of vendor support, lack of marketing, too much “bad techie attitude,” too much infighting and not enough developer cooperation are “Five ways the Linux desktop shoots itself in the foot,” contends Computerworld’s Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols. “Every time I’ve ever posted on ubuntu’s forum, dive been treated very nicely,” protested Anonymous in the Computerworld comments. “Really?” shot back another Anonymous writer. “Because I’ve seen ‘RTFM NOOB’ more times than I care to count.”
Humm is anyone seeing a pattern here yet? Yes Linux is good and yes some folks have been playing with it longer than others, however some how the teaching aspect of some leave a lot to be desired, trust me I have been around long enough to have seen this type of problem. Baldy

There are many compelling reasons to switch to Linux. Excellent security and low — or nonexistent — costs, to name just two, have already persuaded countless organizations and individuals around the globe to eschew the world of end-user license agreements and opt for the freedom and openness of Linux instead. Yet switching to Linux isn’t quite as straightforward as buying a Mac or a Windows PC, because Linux isn’t just one thing. It exists in many forms — called “distributions,” or “distros” — and newcomers must choose the one they’d like to use.
This is one good read the the new user or the person sitting out there right now and saying what, where, why, and how about linux and will guide the user to the correct distro for them, Baldy
